I am a theatre director, performer, artist and pedagogue specializing in contemporary Deaf theatre and artistic research.

My work places the Deaf experience at the centre of the stage, highlighting Deaf epistemologies and lived experiences. Through my work, I explore Deaf Embodiment (a concept I introduced in my 2022 Master’s thesis) and the corporeality of the Deaf performer at the intersections of artistic research, phenomenology of the body, feminist theory and critical pedagogy. My artistic practice draws on multimodal, multisensory, somatic and trauma‑informed approaches, applied in both Deaf‑centred and inclusive stage productions.

I have a MA in Theatre Pedagogy and a BA in Performing Arts. I am currently working on my PhD as a doctoral researcher at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. My research is funded by Kone Foundation and carried out in cooperation with the Finnish Sign Language performance collective Ursa Minor Ensemble.

Deaf Standard Time, noun.
Integrity, creativity, and empathy shape the way we work. These aren't just words—they’re the foundation of everything we build. We believe in doing great work, building real relationships, and making it easy for you to get the results you’re looking for.

Co-researchers

It is important to note that no theatre, nor artistic research in the performing arts, can emerge without the support of colleagues. I owe much to many, but first and foremost to my artistic home and family – Ursa Minor Ensemble. I want to acknowledge their crucial role in my work and in my learning process. They have been walking this journey with me from the very beginning and continue to do so. They are my co-researchers and co-thinkers, whose ideas resonate with mine and to whom I owe my work. Thank you, Anne, Jarl, Joonas, Jussi, Martin, Olga, Silja, Tanja and Quentin. You truly are the most inspiring, fun and supportive colleagues one could wish for.
